Each year, the National Park Service designates a number of free entrance days, when visitors can enter Zion and other national parks without paying an entrance fee. This year, there will be five days when you can visit Zion, or any of America’s breathtaking national parks, for free. Don’t forget, Zion Crest Campground is just an hour from Bryce Canyon National Park, and a convenient day trip to the Grand Canyon North Rim!
2020 National Park Free Entrance Days:
January 20: Martin Luther King, Jr. Day
April 18: First day of National Park Week
August 25: National Park Service Birthday
September 26: National Public Lands Day
November 11: Veterans Day
Visiting Zion National Park on a free entrance day means decent savings – the entry fee is currently $35 per vehicle. It also means you’ll be facing bigger crowds, so plan accordingly. Bring your patience and plenty of water and snacks, wear super comfy hiking shoes, dress in layers, and whatever you do, don’t forget your camera or cell phone for capturing all of Zion’s beautiful glory!
At the end of your day of Zion National Park adventures, be sure to take advantage of Zion Ponderosa’s amenities by cooling off in the two-tiered pool, unwinding in the hot tub under the stars, and dining on a hearty meal at Ray’s Restaurant.
National Park Passes
If you’re planning on visiting Zion more than once this year, you may want to consider purchasing an annual pass to save on entrance fees the rest of the year. Or, if you’re planning to visit several parks in 2020, consider investing in an America the Beautiful pass for year-long access to national parks and federal recreational lands across the U.S.
